I have secured numerous cover stories for newspapers and magazines. I went undercover as a beauty queen, chased a doctor absconding from the GMC across two African countries, and reported on the 1994 Rwandan genocide. I have hunted down NHS swizzlers and drug dealers, interviewed philanthropists, diplomats, UN executives, environmental activists as well as farmers, chefs, opera singers, musicians, writers, artists and aristos, even a man who couldn’t talk. I have crossed the Arabian Sea by dhow and the Atlantic on a freighter. I have steamed across China in Deng Xiaoping’s train and crossed Russia, north to south as well as east to Mongolia. And I have written a great deal about myself; training for a triathlon, being Bridget Jones, breaking-up, getting married, losing babies, doing IVF. Here are a few of my favourites.
